Man dies after ‘pushed’ off running bus

A man has died after allegedly being pushed off by a helper from a running bus while arguing over fare.

The deceased is Irfan Hossain, 48, who worked in an electric shop.

The incident happened near Joykali Mondir (temple) in Dhaka’s Wari around 11am on Thursday.

Citing locals, Wari police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Arafat Hossain said that Irfan was commuting on a Green Bangla Paribahan bus. He was arguing over the fare when the bus came to Joykali Mondir when the helper, Mozammel, pushed him off the bus.

With a head injury, Irfan was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the on-duty doctors called him dead, the SI added.

Police seized the bus and also detained the driver. However, the main accused helper managed to escape, said the SI.

DMCH police out-post inspector Bachchu Mia said the body has been kept in the morgue for autopsy.
