A 35-year-old man allegedly committed suicide after killing his five-year-old daughter at Kaunia in Barishal city on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Naim Hawladar, who used to live in a flat of four-storey building ‘Swapno Bilash’ in the area, and her daughter Rabeya Bashri Roza.
Quoting local people, Arafat Hossain, sub-inspector of Kaunia Police Station, said Naim, a driver of Opsonin Pharma, got divorced from his wife Rabeya four months back.
Since then, Rabeya used to live with her father.
On Tuesday night, Naim locked into an altercation with Rabeya when she wanted to take her daughter with her.
At one stage, furious Naim killed his daughter by slitting her throat with a sharp weapon before taking his own life in the similar manner.
On information, police recovered the bodies on Wednesday morning.
