The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained a man with 58 gold bars from the Damurhuda frontier area in Chuadanga on Thursday.
The detainee was identified as Rakibul Islam, a resident of Nastipur village in Damurhuda upazila.
BGB-6 Director Shah Md Ishtiaque said acting on a tip-off, a team of the border force conducted a raid at Nastipur around 11:00am and apprehended Rakibul with the gold bars weighing 9.860kg.
