Marathon causes massive gridlock in Dhaka

To mark the homecoming day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, "Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Dhaka Marathon 2022" is ongoing in Dhaka, causing a massive gridlock in the city.  

The marathon on Monday started from the Army Stadium at 05:30am and will finish in Hatirjheel Amphitheatre after passing through Banani- Kamal Ataturk Avenue-Gulshan-1, Gulshan-2, and Police Plaza area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) restricted traffic movement on Hatirjheel and adjacent areas for seven hours from 4:00am in order to accommodate the marathon runners.

Traffic movement was suspended on the routes from Bangladesh Army Stadium-Kakoli-Gulshan-2-Gulshan-1 to Hatirjheel as participants started the marathon from the stadium. However, traffic was allowed on the roads as soon as the marathon runners completed passing through.
