A legal notice has been served to the authorities concerned to dismiss Director General of Bangladesh Postal Department Sudhanshu Shekhar Bhadra who met with the Prime minister at Gana Bhaban despite being Covid-19 positive.
Two Supreme Court Lawyer Barrister Humayun Kabir Pallab and Barrister Mohammad Kawsar sent the legal notice on Saturday.
Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office, Secretary of Public Administration, Home Secretary, Secretary of Posts and Telecommunications, Secretary of Health, Director General of Health and Director of Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) have been made respondents to the legal notice.
The notice sought response from the authorities concerned regarding this matter within 48 hours and sought steps including formation of a probe committee against Sudhanshu Shekhar. Otherwise, legal actions will be taken against them.
Earlier, on August 14, on the occasion of the 45th Martyrdom Anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Sudhanshu Shekhar went to Ganabhaban in the inaugural function of the commemorative postage stamp, opening day envelop and the data card. Sudhanshu Shekhar came very closer to the Prime Minister.
According to the Communicable Diseases (Prevention, Control and Eradication) Act, 2018, Section 26 his actions were a crime and under that law he was hiding information which is a punishable crime.
The notice also said that during the course of the investigation, he has been asked for a temporary dismissal. At the same time, there have been requests to identify the shortcomings in the security of the Prime Minister.
