The death toll from Friday's trawler capsize in Meghna River rose to eight as two bodies were recovered this morning.

"The death toll rises eight as two more bodies were recovered from the river at Bhairab fisheries warehouse (Aroth) area today", said Obaidul Karim, deputy director of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA).

The deceased were identified as Sohel Rana, a police constable of Bhairab Highway Police station, and Belon Dey.

Five-year-old Raisul, the son of police constable Sohel, is still missing, said Karim, also the unit chief of Prottoy Rescue run by BIWTA.

The trawler with 21 people on board from Charsonarampur of Ashuganj in Brhamanbaria sank in the river after it collided with a bulk carrier coming from the opposite direction on Friday, March 22.
