A security guard of Meherpur jail in Khandakarpara of Sadar upazila was held with 65 pieces of contraband Yaba pills on Tuesday (June 23).
The arrestee was identified as Abdul Alim Biswash, son of Tojir Uddin and jail guard of Meherpur jail.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Detective Branch Julfikar Ali said acting on a tip off they conducted a drive in the house of Alim in Khandakarpara area and arrested him with the yaba pills.
Previously, Alim remained suspended for seven months for negligence in duty while he was posted at Narail, OC said.
Legal action will be taken against the accused, he said.
