Police on Saturday arrested journalist Al Amin Hossain under Digital Security Act at Gangni in Meherpur for publishing a report against a former ruling party MP.
The detained journalist is the Meherpur district correspondent of the Business Bangladesh published from Dhaka.
He was detained from his residence at Bashbaria village of the municipality area.
The investigation officer of the case ASI of Gangni thana Sumon Mia said that he was arrested under Digital Security Act (DSA) following an arrest warrant issued by a court.
On May 11 in 2020, a report was published in a local newspaper about the former MP of Meherpur. After the news being published, the nephew of former MP freedom fighter Md Mokbul Hossain filed a case against ASM Emon, publisher of Meherpur Protidin, Yeadul Momin, editor and Al Amin Hossain, joint editor of the daily, under DSA.
