The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd (DMTCL) will be ready to resume metro rail operations within the next seven days, and the interim government will decide on the day services will re-launch.

However, Kazipara and Mirpur-10 – two stations which were vandalised during the violence centering quota reform movement last month – will remain inoperable for the time, reports an English language daily quoting DMTCL Managing Director MAN Siddique on Sunday.

DMTCL sources say they have started full technical preparations to resume operations and trial runs will be conducted within the next two to three days.

“We will be ready to resume operations within seven days,” MAN Siddique said.

Addressing the matter of the two vandalised stations, Siddique said the committee, formed to assess the damage and other technical issues, is yet to submit a report. The authorities will move forward based on the report.
