Mild heatwave may abate

The ongoing mild heatwave may abate in three districts of the country, said a Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) bulletin on Monday.

“Mild heatwave is sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Nilphamari and it may abate,” said the bulletin.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at is likely to occur at many places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal, and Mymensingh divisions, and at one or two places over Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions with moderately heavy falls at isolated places over the country,” it added.

However, the day temperature may fall slightly and the night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it also said.

Country's maximum temperature was recorded 37.5 degrees Celsius at Sayedpur on Sunday and minimum temperature on Monday was 25.8 degrees Celsius jointly at Kutubdia, Teknaf, and Sylhet.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours till 6:00 am on Monday was recorded 48 mm in Sylhet.

The sun sets at 6:48 pm on Monday and rises at 5.22 am on Tuesday in the capital.
