Mild heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Rajshahi, Jashore, Chuadanga, Tangail and Faridpur and it may continue, said the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) forecast on Sunday.
"Mild heat wave is sweeping over the north and north-eastern region and it may continue...the mild wave is also sweeping over Rajshahi, Jashore, Chuadanga, Tangail and Faridpur", it said.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy falls at some places over the country in next 24 hours from 9 this morning.
The well-marked low over west-central Bay and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal moved north-westwards and intensified into a depression over the same area.
It is likely to move north-westerly direction and intensify further.
The axis of monsoon troughs runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, the centre of the Depression to Assam across the southern part of Bangladesh.
Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
Country's maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded at 37.0 degrees Celsius jointly at Rangpur, Rajarhat and Sylhet as the minimum temperature today was recorded at 23.6 degrees Celsius at Khepupara.
Country's maximum rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded at 102 millimetres (mm) at Nikli.
