Minor girl raped after abduction in Cox's Bazar

A minor girl was abducted, held hostage for two days and reportedly gang-raped at Mams Residential Hotel in Cox's Bazar’s Kalatali area.

The victim's father filed a case accusing five people with Cox's Bazar Sadar police station on December 18. Despite the case, no one was arrested over the last one week.

“None of the accused has been arrested yet as they were absconding. However, the investigation into the case is ongoing,” Abdul Halim, investigating officer of the case, said while confirming the matter to The Business Post on Sunday.

An operation is underway to arrest them, he also added.

However, the victim's family said they have been receiving threats from the accused to withdraw the case.

According to the police complaint, the minor girl was abducted on her way home from school on December 13 by a group, led by a one Ashiq.

The victim was later set free on December 15 night.

The manager of Mams Residential Hotel denied the claim and said none of the accused rented their hotel room from 13 to 15 December.

However, the CCTV footage of the respective dates were found to have been erased from the  hotel server.
