The fire that broke out in the capital’s Jhilpar slum – located in Mirpur 12 area – has been doused after one hour effort.

Confirming the matter, Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) Control Room Duty Officer Lima Khanam said, “The fire broke out around 12:57pm in the slum, and fire fighters received a tip off about the incident at 12:55pm.

“Eight units of the fire service extinguished the blaze around 2:55 pm.”

Meanwhile, FSCD Duty Officer Rashed Bin Khaled said, “The cause of this fire is not immediately known, and there has been no reports of casualties so far.”

A team of army personnel also joined the firefighting units to bring the blaze under control, an ISPR press release read.

Meanwhile, another fire gutted nearly 30 homes in the Baganbari slum of Mirpur-14 around Wednesday midnight. After receiving news, five units of fire service brought the fire under control after half an hour of effort. No one was injured in that incident.
