Mitu murder case: PBI submits progress of probe report on investigation to HC

The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) on Sunday submitted the progress of probe into the killing of Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, wife of sacked assistant superintendent of Chattagrom Metropolitan Police Babul Akhter, before the High Court.

Santosh Kumar Chakma, PBI's inspector and investigation officer of the case, submitted the report to the HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman on Sunday.

State lawyer Deputy Attorney General Sarwar Hossain Bappi confirmed the matter to the media.

Earlier on December 2 last year, the HC asked the PBI to submit a report on the progress of the investigation into the gruesome murder of Mahmuda Khanam Mitu.

Earlier on June 5, 2021, Mahmuda Khanam Mitu was stabbed and shot dead when she was walking her son to his school bus stop at port city's GEC intersection.

Later, Babul Akhter filed a case against three unidentified men with Panchlaish Police Station.

Motaleb Mia Wasim, Anwar Hossain, Ehteshamul Haque alias Bhola, Md Shahjahan and Saidul Sikder Shakur (Musa's elder brother) so far arrested in connection with this murder case.
