Sixteen more patients died at the Covid unit of Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital in the past 24 hours till Tuesday morning, according to the district's health officials.
“Of the deceased, six were Covid-19 positive while ten others died with Covid-like-symptoms,” said Dr Mohiuddin Khan Moon, spokesperson of Covid unit of MMCH.
Among the fatalities, nine were from Mymensingh, four from Netrokona, two from Jamalpur, one from Sherpur.
With newly admitted 30 patients, a total of 329 patients are undergoing treatment against 230 beds while 21 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital, he added.
Some 58 other patients returned home after being cured during the same time.
Meanwhile, Dr Mohammad Nazrul Islam, Civil Surgeon of the district said that in the last 24 hours, 500 samples were tested and 92 people were identified as Covid positive while the infection rate was 18.40 per cent.
Meanwhile, Dr Khairul Islam, spokesperson of Community Based Medical College Hospital Bangladesh (CBMCB), said that a total of 20 patients were admitted to the CBMCB corona unit till Tuesday morning.
