Health and Family Planning Minister Zahid Maleque on Wednesday said the government is modernising healthcare services to provide quality treatment facilities to the people.
"We are equipping public hospitals with modern facilities to ensure world-class medical services in the country," he told a function at Dhaka Dental College in the city, an official release said.
State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumdar and Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam, among others, were present at the function.
Maleque said, "We have visited divisional level hospitals and learned different aspects of healthcare facilities...we are taking effective measures for improving overall healthcare facilities in the country."
The government has increased the bed capacity of dental hospitals as the numbers of dental patients have increased sharply in the country, he said adding at present, there are 70,000 beds at the dental hospitals in the country.
