One more person has succumbed to injuries received from a huge explosion in a building near Moghbazar Wireless Gate on June 27 evening, taking the death toll to nine.

A 25-year-old man named Imran Hossain, died around 6:40am Wednesday at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), said Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.

Imran was undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the institute as 90 per cent of his body suffered from burn injuries, he added.

The explosion occurred on the ground floor of a three-storey building around 7:00pm.

Brig Gen Md Sazzad Hussain, director-general of Fire Service and Civil Defence, suspected gas leakage as the most possible cause of the blast. Meanwhile, police disregarded the possibility of militant involvement behind the blast.
