Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen on Tuesday said the country would resort to the extreme action like opening fire along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border to stop arms smuggling, and drugs and human trafficking.
The minister said this while talking to the media after a programme at MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital in Sylhet.
Mentioning the Bangladesh-Myanmar border a difficult one, Momen said, “Earlier, we took decision that we would never open fire along the border. Yesterday (Monday) I discussed (the issue) with the home minister and we have decided to open fire.”
The minister hoped the criminal activities — human and drugs trafficking and arms smuggling — thus would be reduced on the border.
