Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, who is now on a visit to the Netherlands has interacted with Dutch students over climate change issue.

"Youth have to take charge for protecting the climate," he told the students of University of Groningen in the Netherlands, the only university in the world with a detailed research programme and course on adaptation for climate change, on Tuesday.

The foreign minister called on the youth to come forward and take the lead to address the challenges of climate, a foreign ministry press release said Wednesday.

Momen stressed the role of the academia, the researchers and the students in creating the platform to address the challenges of climate change in a fast and efficient way.

The foreign minister also visited the Deltares, the leading Dutch specialist applied research institute in the field of water and held a meeting with its Managing Director Annemieke Nijhof and her scientist colleagues.

During the meeting, the issue of implementation of the Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100 was discussed in detail.

Foreign Minister is on a three-day official visit to the Netherlands.

He is scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister Sigrid Kaag of the Netherlands at the Foreign Ministry in the Hague on Wednesday.
