More rain, colder days ahead

With most parts of the country witnessing rainfall throughout Friday, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has said that temperatures may fall further with a rise in rainfall across the country in the coming days.

“It has been raining in most of the areas of the country and rainfall may increase and continue till Saturday noon,” BMD Meteorologist Md Abdul Mannan told The Business Post on Friday.

"Although day temperature will remain unchanged, but night temperature will decrease," he added.

In its daily weather forecast on Friday, BMD said that a seasonal low lies over South Bay while a trough of Westerly low extends up to Western part of Bangladesh and adjoining North Bay.

It also forecast that light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind was likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions.

It also said the rainfall activity was likely to continue for the next five days, while light to moderate fog may occur at isolated places over the country during late night to morning, it added.

Night temperature may fall slightly over the country, while day temperature may remain nearly unchanged over northern part and may fall by 2°C to 3°C over southern part of the country.

On Friday, the country’s lowest temperature was recorded in Tetulia of Panchagarh under Rangpur division at 11.02°C.

The lowest temperature in Dhaka on Friday was 18.02°C, Chottogram 15.04°C, Mymensingh 16.04°C, Sylhet 15.02°C, Rajshahi 16.02°C, Rangpur 14.03°C, Khulna 18.02°C, Barishal 16.02°C.
