Five divisions, including Dhaka, will likely see more rainfall in the next 24 hours, the Met Office said on Sunday.
In a forecast for the next 24 hours commencing 9am Sunday, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said that parts of Dhaka, Mymensingh, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions would see light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind.
“The southwest monsoon has advanced up to Yangoon coast,” it said, adding that conditions were favourable for further advancement of the southwest monsoon.
Rain may also occur at a few places over Rajshahi, Rangpur and Khulna divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at some other places, it said.
Meanwhile, a mild heatwave sweeping across Rajshahi and Khulna divisions and the regions of Faridpur, Dinajpur, and Nilphamari may abate from some places.
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged all over the country.
Dhaka recorded a maximum of 118mm rainfall in the last 24 hours until 6am on Sunday.
The country’s maximum temperature was recorded at 37.6 degrees Celsius at Ishurdi on Saturday.
