A mortar shell was recovered from Kalakuma village in Nalitabari upazila in Sherpur district on Tuesday.

Basir Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Nalitabari Police Station, said police recovered the mortar shell from the farmland of one Atar Ali of the village in an abandoned condition.

Quoting local people police said, Nur Islam, a resident of the village, found the mortar shell in the Bhogai River a few days ago but he buried it in the land of Atar Ali again without disclosing the matter to anyone.

A bomb disposal team is scheduled to visit the spot on Wednesday and they will take further steps in this regard, said the OC.
