A long queue of motorcycles was seen at separate toll booths in the Bangabandhu Bridge East area on Wednesday. Thousands of people are going to North Bengal with their families risking their lives by crossing the Bangabandhu Bridge on motorcycles.
Abul Kalam, a Grameen Bank employee, said, “I am going home with my wife on a motorbike to celebrate Eid holiday. Hundreds of motorcyclists like me are waiting to cross the bridge.”
Moreover, private cars outnumber passenger buses on the highway. The public holiday of Eid-ul-Fitr started from Wednesday.
