A Dhaka court on Saturday sent the microbus driver Md Nayeem to jail who was involved in hit-and-run and killing mountaineer Reshma Nahar Ratna.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Baki Billah passed the order after the investigation officer prayed to keep the accused in jail till the end of the investigation of the case.
Earlier on 19 August, a Dhaka court placed Nayeem on a two-day remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Millat Hossain passed the remand order after the investigation officer of the case produced Nayeem before the court with a five-day remand plea.
However, the accused lawyer prayed for the cancellation of the remand plea and sought bail in the case.
After hearing in the case, the court granted two days remand for the accused.
On 18 August, police arrested Nayeem and seized the vehicle on charges of running over and killing young explorer Reshma on August 7.
Mountaineer Reshma was also a teacher at Ayub Ali Government Primary School in Dhaka. She was buried in her village at Lohagara, Narail, on August 8.
