Mountaineer Reshma Ratna, 33, was killed on Friday morning as a private car ran over her while cycling on Lake Road near Chandrima Udyan in the capital.
Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Ibrahim confirmed the matter to The Business Post, saying the accident took place around 9 am Friday and Reshma died on the spot in the crash.
After the accident, Pedestrians rescued her and rushed her to the emergency department of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital where the doctor on duty declared her dead, said the SI.
Police recovered Reshma's bicycle, twisted from behind, from the spot, he added.
