Kushtia-2 constituency lawmaker Kamarul Arefin sustained injuries after being hit by a CNG-run autorickshaw while crossing the road in front of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Monday night.

The incident happened when the lawmaker and his personal assistant were crossing the road near the Bakul Tola gate of the parliament building around 9:00pm.

Following the accident, the lawmaker was initially taken to the Parliament Medical Centre and later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around midnight. He underwent a CT scan of his head and X-rays of his hands and feet. Additionally, he received three stitches on his right elbow, Abdulah Al, the personal assistant of the lawmaker, told UNB.

Kamarul was discharged from the hospital after his CT scan and X-ray reports came back good.

“I sustained some minor injuries in the incident, but I am doing better now and resting at home,” the lawmaker told UNB over the phone.
