Amid an ongoing investigation against Bashundhara Group’s Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir, who is accused of abetting the suicide of a college student Mosarat Jahan Munia, her brother on Sunday in a major twist appealed for filing a murder case against Nazmul Karim Chowdhury Sharun, son of whip Shamsul Haque Chowdhury.
Ashiqur Rahman, brother of slain Munia, filed the appeal to Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
Police on April 26 recovered the body of Munia from a rented flat at Gulshan-2 area of the capital and later on the day, her sister Nusrat Jahan filed a case with the Gulshan police station accusing Bashundhara Group of abetting the suicide of her.
According to police, Munia was found hanging from a ceiling fan in a tilted position, while her legs touched the bed.
After hearing Ashiqur Rahman’s prayer, Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan said that the procedures of the prayer would remain on hold until the investigation of another case filed over the incident was completed.
According to the prayer against Sharun, Ashiqur said that he learned through newspapers and televisions that there was an affair between Munia and Sahrun. Their relationship deteriorated and Sharun hung Munia with the ceiling fan at her residence in Gulshan after killing her.
Munia hailed from Cumilla and was living at the Gulshan flat alone. Her father Shafiqur Rahman was a valiant freedom fighter and family members lived in Cumilla.
