Historian and Scholar Prof Muntassir Mamoon has been shifted to intensive care unit of Mugda General Hospital in the city.
Dr Monilal Aich Litu, president of the Covid-19 Physicians’ Council of the hospital, said Mamoon's health condition was stable and that he would be further examined today (Monday).
He said the historian had some symptoms of Covid-19 although he once was tested coronavirus negative.
"His (Mamoon) mother is under treatment at the capital’s Kurmitola General Hospital after being infected by coronavirus," Monilal added.
Prof Mamoon was admitted to Mugda General Hospital on Sunday afternoon with some ailments. He complained that he lacked appetite and was feeling weak.
He was awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award and Ekushey Padak by the government.
