A murder case was filed on Monday against seven people, including six doctors of LabAid Specialized Hospital in Dhanmondi, over the death of HSC candidate Tahsin Hossain allegedly “due to wrong treatment.”

Tahsin's father Monir Hossain filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farah Diba Chandar.

The court took the statement of the plaintiff and directed the Dhanmondi police station to take the complaint as an FIR.

The accused in the case are – Dr Md Saifullah, Dr Maqsood, Dr Sabbir Ahmed, Dr Mosharraf, Dr Kanak, Dr AM Shamim, and Md Shah Jahan.

The plaintiff's lawyer Faisal Bin Asad confirmed the filing of the lawsuit.

According to the case statement, Monir Hossain took his son Tahsin to LabAid Hospital on March 27 as Tahsin had been feeling ill for some time. Dr Saifullah advised him to admit Tahsin immediately to the hospital.

After admission, Tahsin underwent surgery on March 28, and his health started deteriorating after surgery.

When asked, Dr Maqsood told the plaintiff that the surgery was not successful. To cure the patient, the operation would have to be done again.

Thereafter, Tahsin underwent a second surgery on April 6. Even then, his condition continued to deteriorate. The victim died on June 23 after three months of treatment. He was given 144 bags of blood in three months.

The hospital authorities billed the family around Tk 27 lakh as medical expenses.

Monir Hossain said, “I asked Dr Saifullah many times what my son's problem was. But he could never say anything right. I am 100 per cent sure that he mistreated my son.”
