'Murdered' girl found alive: HC orders judicial probe

The High Court on Thursday ordered the authorities concerned to conduct a judicial inquiry of an abduction case of a girl who was thought to have been raped and murdered before being found alive 51 days after her disappearance.

The court also asked to submit a probe report in this regard within November 4. The court fixed November 5 for the next hearing.

An HC bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order on Thursday.

Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Mohammad Shishir Monir, who filed the revision, confirmed the matter to The Business Post.

Earlier on 27 August, the HC summoned two investigation officers (IO) with all the documents of the abduction case.

The court also ordered the investigation officers to submit written explanations before the court on September 17.

Later on September 17, the HC fixed September 24 to deliver the verdict on a revision appeal challenging police for arresting three people and taking their confessional statements in the case filed over the alleged murder of the schoolgirl who later returned home alive in Narayanganj.

The same bench passed the order on September 17.

Earlier on 25 August, a revision was filed with the High Court that challenged the accuracy, legality and rationality of the proceedings of this case.

Shishir Monir filed the revision on behalf of five other Supreme Court lawyers -- Md Asad Uddin, Md Zobaidur Rahman, Md Ashraful Islam, Md Al Reza Amir and Md Misbah Uddin.

The girl went missing on July 4 this year. On August 6, her father filed an abduction case with Narayanganj Sadar Model police station.

Police arrested three suspects and sent them to jail.

Later, the suspects gave confessional statements saying that after raping and murdering the teenage girl, they dumped her body in the Shitalakha river.

The trio -- Md Abdullah, 22, Md Rakib, 19, and Khalilur Rahman, 36, -- have been in jail since confessing before the court.

According to the Narayanganj Sadar police, on August 23, the girl returned home and currently, she is with her family.

The respondents to the revision are - the magistrate, the superintendent of police, the officers in charge of Narayanganj Sadar Model police station, the investigation officer of the case, plaintiff Jahangir Hossain (father of abducted teen girl) and the three accused -- Abdullah, Rakib and Khalil.
