Centre for Policy Dialogue distinguished fellow Mustafizur Rahman on Saturday said that the spread of Covid-19 was the result of globalisation and now it had spread all over the world.
He suggested reaching out various global organisations to find a solution to pandemic in a webinar titled, "Globalisation Context: In Search of the Good Society'' organised by the Bangladesh Economic Association.
"If Covid-19 vaccine patent rights and license are lifted, it would surely help to produce vaccines for other countries like us," he added.
"Covid-19 has emerged as a natural revenge to the destruction of rainforests across the globe, from great Amazon rainforest to the Sundarbans, by globalisation," said Khalequzzaman, general secretary of the Socialist Party of Bangladesh.
"Neoliberal globalisation is more worrying now. The question is whether the viral pandemic is a global catastrophe," said Md Abdul Hannan, Bangladesh’ permanent representative to the UN.
"The global pandemic Covid-19 is changing the character of globalisation," he added.
