A virtual Dhaka court on Thursday placed Mosaddek Hanif Soad, owner of 'MV Moyur-2' launch, on a three-day remand in connection with a case filed over the tragic capsize of the launch 'Morning Bird' on Buriganga that killed 33 people recently.
Dhaka senior judicial magistrate Monika Khan passed the order after the hearing on Thursday.
Earlier, Shahidul Alam, sub-inspector of naval police and investigation officer of the case, produced the accused before the court seeking a seven-day remand.
Police arrested Mosaddek Hanif from Sobhanbagh area of the capital early Thursday.
On 7 July, a virtual Dhaka court placed Abdus Salam, a supervisor of Moyur-2 launch on a three-day remand after Sub-Inspector Md Shahidul Alam of South Keranigonj Police Station, who is also an investigation officer of the case, produced the accused before the court with a five-day remand prayer. Judicial Magistrate Mishkat Shukrana passed the order.
