The 27th National Training Day will be observed through various programmes in the country on Monday.
On the eve of the day, President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina issued separate messages wishing all success of the day's programmes.
"To expedite the socio-economic development of a country, a skilled, experienced, professional, service-oriented and industrious workforce is essential," said President Abdul Hamid in a message.
Along with institutional education, there is no alternative to profession-based improvement and modern pieces of training to create skilled human resources, he added.
Bangladesh Society for Training and Development (BSTD) has been working over the last four decades for development of human resources through research and training.
Abdul Hamid hoped that BSTD would continue its efforts to develop skilled manpower in the country.
In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said realizing the importance of training, her government has taken various development and reform programmes for the training sector. The government has attached priority to training as part of its public administration policy, she said, adding that foundation training for cadre officials has been increased to six months from four months.
"Budget allocation for the training sector has been increased. Priority has been given to infrastructural development of the training centres," she said.
She also said various reform programmes, including expanding the scope of training at home and abroad, is being implemented to develop Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) as a service-oriented and modern organization.
She hoped that the BSTD will act as an auxiliary force in the coming days in implementing the government's “Vision-2041” and contribute to building “Sonar Bangla” as dreamt by the best Bengali of all times Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by developing human resources.
