National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Abu Hena Mohammad Rahmatul Muneem has urged everyone to come forward for social integration of the transgender community.

He was speaking at the programme "Social Inclusion of Transgender Community" in the capital's Tejgaon on Saturday.

Fair Group has set an extraordinary example in corporate initiatives by employing a good number of transgender people, Muneem added.

Fair Group Chairman Ruhul Alam Al Mahbub presided over the CSR event.

"We already employed more than 30 transgender people in different SBUs of our group. We have taken steps to increase this number. All these we are doing to ensure social inclusion of the transgender community," he said.

Additional IGP and Head of Tourist Police Habibur Rahman were present at the event. Referring to his initiatives for the neglected transgender community, he said, steps taken by Fair Group will create a very positive impact on society.

Prominent cultural personalities Shamim Ara Nipa, Sadia Islam Mou and Amitabh Reza Chowdhury addressed the event. They said it is everyone's responsibility to integrate the transgender community into the mainstream of our society.

Dhaka University Professor Tawhida Jahan, Bandhu Social Welfare Society Executive Director Saleh Ahmed and TransEnd Founder Lamia Tanha also participated.
