NBR team raids Salauddin Hospital

The Central Intelligence Cell (CIC), working under the National Board of Revenue (NBR), raided Salauddin Specialised Hospital Ltd over allegations that the hospital hid information about transactions in their income tax return.

During the raid, detectives seized the hospital's income and expenditure accounts of five years. The hospital is a 150 bedded multi-disciplinary tertiary-care Hospital, located at Hatkhola Road of Tikatuli in the capital. It was established in 2003.

The CIC intelligence stated that the hospital has been evading a large amount of taxes by hiding the actual accounts for a long time, and the hospital did not deduct and deposit tax at source properly.

The authorities will determine the actual amount of evasion by analysing the seized documents, and comparing them with information disclosed in the hospital’s income tax returns.

CIC director Md Masudur Rahman Masud led the drive with a team of five officials.

Detectives said after analysing the documents, legal action will be taken against the hospital. Such operations will continue to curb the malpractice of tax evasion, said several intelligence officers of NBR.
