Newly Appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Mainul Islam on Thursday took over charge of the office, said an official release.
Prior to joining as IGP, Mainul was commandant of Dhaka traffic and driving school, as the Additional IGP, the release of the police headquarter said on Thursday morning.
Earlier, the government appointed him as IGP through a gazette notification issued from the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday.
The notification said the order will come into effect immediately.
