New Market Business Owners' Association has said the market will be reopened on Wednesday evening after following a day-long clash with Dhaka College Students the previous day.
The clash between Dhaka College students and New Market traders – which began on Monday night and continued sporadically throughout Tuesday –left one person dead and at least more than 50 other people injured.

“Shop owners are now busy cleaning the market premises. We are hopeful the market will be reopened by Wednesday evening, ” New Market Business Owners' Association President Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen said.
“We experienced huge losses in the last couple of days,” the president also added.
However, he did not mention the exact economic loss that occurred due to the clashes between Dhaka College students and New Market traders.

Earlier on Wednesday, in a press briefing, Aminul said, “We want a peaceful solution to this problem. He urged all concerned bodies not to give provocative words, statements and posts about this incident”.
“We have spoken to the home minister; he will discuss the issue with all and give us a decision,” he also added.
He further urged Dhaka College students to be considerate of the situation.
