NID fraud: Dr Sabrina on 2-day remand

A Dhaka court has granted a two-day remand for JKG Health Care Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury in a case filed against her for possessing two national identity (NID) cards and being a dual voter.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Tofazzal Hossain passed the order on Thursday.

Earlier on September 1, the investigation officer of the case prayed for five days remand for Sabrina in this case. The court fixed September 3 for the hearing.

Earlier on 30 August, the Election Commission filed a case against JKG Health Care Chairperson Dr Sabrina for possessing two National Identity Cards.

Abdul Momin Mia, the election officer of Gulshan thana, filed the case with Badda police station.

Dr Sabrina is currently in jail in a case filed over issuing fake Covid-19 certificates. A Dhaka court framed charges against eight people including Sabrina in the case on August 20.

On August 5, Md Liakot Ali, an inspector of Detective Branch (DB) and also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, submitted the charge-sheet before the court.

According to the charge sheet, JKG Healthcare provided 27,000 coronavirus reports without following proper test procedures while most of them were found fake.
