The Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) will keep its runway closed for eight hours – 12am to 8am – every day due to foggy weather and the ongoing construction of the airport’s third terminal.
The temporary closure will continue till May 31, according to a decision taken by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) on Wednesday.
HSIA Executive Director Group Captain AHM Touhid-ul Ahsan confirmed the matter to The Business Post.
CAAB has also sent a directive to all domestic and international airlines, asking them to use the runway of Osmani International Airport in Sylhet in case there is need of an emergency landing during the respective eight hours.
