Agriculture Minister Mohammad Abdur Razzaque said that foreign power won’t be able to play any role in the next national elections in Bangladesh.

He made the comment while talking to journalists after a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) meeting on Thursday at the ministry’s conference room at the Secretariat.

“The international community wants our elections to be fair. We’ve appointed a new Election Commissioner to serve this purpose. Elections, even in developed countries, are held under an Election Commission. They don’t form any caretaker government during election times,” said Razzaque.

He also highlighted the fact that the next election will be held in accordance with the current constitution, and the amended constitution doesn’t have any article regarding forming any caretaker government.

“We will welcome any opinion or advice from the international community regarding the next elections.” the minister also added.
