The Rajshahi district administration has imposed a ban on people’s nighttime movement from Thursday in a fresh set of restrictions to tackle the surge of Covid-19 cases in the district.
As the season of the district’s prime moneymaking harvest, mango, is continuing, the administration kept the sale and transportation of the seasonal fruit out of the purview of the restrictions.
The decisions were taken at an emergency meeting on Wednesday and the fresh restrictions would come into effect between 7:00pm and 8:00am from Thursday and would continue until further instruction along with the ongoing special lockdown measures, announced Rajshahi deputy commissioner Abdul Jalil, after the meeting.
As per the fresh restrictions, people would not be allowed to go out at night without any emergency such as taking medical support, buying medicine, food, and essential commodities, holding funerals. People would be allowed to go to the vaccination centres showing vaccine cards.
No food would be served at any restaurant but take away service would be allowed. All shopping malls would remain closed but online trade would be allowed.
Kitchen markets would remain open from 8:00am to 7:00pm and wearing mask is mandatory there.
Mobile courts would be conducted against violators of the restrictions, said the deputy commissioner.
Maximum 20 people would be allowed to say prayers in a mosque at a time including Juma prayers. The similar number of people would be allowed at places of worship of other religions at a time.
People involved with the emergency services would remain out of the purview of the restrictions.
