Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem on Saturday said no one will die of hunger and stay homeless as long as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina remains in power.

"Within two months of achieving independence of Bangladesh, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman started rehabilitating the homeless and landless people. Following his footsteps, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working for the rehabilitation of the landless and homeless people across the country," he said.

The deputy minister said these while addressing a programme as chief guest, in Char Atra and Naopara unions at Naria in Shariatpur district, to distribute corrugated iron sheets and cash among 30 distressed families from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's relief fund, an official release said.

Shameem said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is taking the country forward with her honesty, wisdom and intelligence.

Commenting that BNP wants to come to power again through the back door, Shameem said that it does not want to participate in the elections.

Noting that the people of this country will not bring BNP to power, he said the country's people have not forgotten their (BNP's) misrule.

He hoped that the people of the country will cast their votes in the next general election to bring Sheikh Hasina to power, added the release.
