Karwan Bazar has been closed for retail sales as a measure to contain the spread of coronavirus. Only wholesalers will be able to trade at the kitchen market for a limited period of time.

Tejgaon Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hasnat Khandaker said retailers will now sit on the road in front of Government Science College to sell their goods.

As per the new schedule, vegetable and food wholesalers will have to finish trade between 9:00pm and 2:00am while the fishermen will trade between 4:00am and 9:00am.

Vehicles carrying goods will enter through streets along CA Bhaban and La Vinci Hotel and exit through roads adjacent to Petrobangla and TCB Bhaban, the OC added.

Six traders, customers and staff members in Karwan Bazar have been infected with the novel coronavirus over the last few days.
