No specific security threat centring Pahela Baishakh: RAB DG

There is no specific security threat centring the Pahela Baishakh to be celebrated Sunday, said Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) M Khurshid Hossain.

"There is no specific threat centring the festivities as we've reviewed intelligence, cyber monitoring data, and other sources," he told journalists after inspecting the security measures in the city's Ramna Batamol area on Saturday.

He said RAB members are on high alert to thwart any potential militant activities, reports BSS.

Highlighting the security measures taken by the RAB's cyber team to monitor and mitigate the dissemination of rumours or false information centring the Pahela Baishakh, Khurshid Hossain said RAB has planned to deploy additional forces across various event venues nationwide.

The RAB DG said the elite force is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all people and requested people to inform RAB personnel about any troublemakers for quick action.

"All event locations will remain under adequate security coverage . . . bomb disposal units and K9 squads will be on alert in Dhaka," he added.
