A fine arts student of Dhaka University has found a handwritten note threatening an attack on Mangal Shobhajatra – a procession that marks the Pohela Boishakh celebrations. The student, Abtahi Rahman, 25, filed a general diary (GD) with Shahbagh police station in this regard.
Ramna Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Shahidullah has confirmed the matter.
The GD mentions that Abtahi had found a note, along with Tk 50 around 9:45pm on Tuesday while supervising alpona work near the Faculty of Fine Arts.
Roughly translated from Bangla, the note read, “Mangal Shobhajatra is shirk, don’t get involved to avoid getting harmed. Attack may commence anytime, dajjali bahini will not be able to detect us.”
Abtahi then discussed the matter with the faculty’s proctorial team, and filed a GD as per their recommendation.
On the issue, Ramna Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Shahidullah said, “An anonymous handwritten note has been found. It threatened an attack on Mangal Shobhajatra. We are taking this matter seriously.”
