Eminent Novelist Rabeya Khatun has passed away on Sunday 6 pm at her Banani residence. She was 86.
The novelist was suffering from various old age complications.
Born in Bikrampur in 1935,Rabeya wrote novels, short stories and novels for teenagers. Popular novels written by her include 'Megher Pore Megh, Madhumati and Kokhono Megh Kokhono Brishti.
Rabeya was accorded numerous prizes and honours, including Swadhinata Puraskar, Ekushey Padak and Bangla Academy Literary Award.
Rabeya Khatun was also involved with teaching and journalism alongside her writing career.
