The government offices will resume on Sunday after the vacation of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, the second biggest religious festival of Muslims.

This year, government officials and employees got a five-day holiday at a stretch. The government extended the Eid-ul-Azha holidays by a day as it declared June 27 a holiday through an executive order.

With the holiday of June 27, government officials and employees enjoyed a five-day holiday for the festival as pre-scheduled holidays were on June 28-30 and July 1 is a Saturday, a weekly holiday.

The Muslim community celebrated the Eid-ul-Azha with festivity, fanfare and religious fervour. Dhaka streets took a deserted look as people went to villages to celebrate the festival.

The people who left the capital Dhaka to celebrate the festival at their village homes with their dear and near ones have started returning to the city.
