Oman has imposed an entry ban on citizens of Bangladesh, India and Pakistan to curb the spread of Covid-19 in that country.

Oman's highest committee on Covid-19 issues made the announcement on Wednesday.

The announcement also said the citizens of any other countries who travelled to any of the three countries in the last 14 days will also fall under the entry ban.

The ban will take effect on April 24 from 6 pm and will remain so until further notice.

However, the ban will not apply to Oman citizens, diplomats, health workers and their family members.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh has been witnessing a massive surge in Covid-19 infection rate and deaths in the last few weeks.

As on Wednesday, 95 people died of Covid-19 in Bangladesh, while 4,280 people tested positive for the virus.

The government on Tuesday extended the ongoing nationwide lockdown till April 28 to curb the spread of a second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.
