Members of Rapid Action Battalion arrested an alleged arms peddler with a pistol, a one shooter gun, a magazine and four rounds of bullet from Mohananda Bridge Toll Plaza area in Chapainawabganj town on Saturday.
The arrested person is Md Faruk, 27, of Arunbari Behula village under Gobratala union in Chapainawabganj sadar upazila.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) said, acting on a tip-off, an operation team of RAB-5 from Chapainawabganj camp conducted a raid in front of Zilla Shilpakala Academy near the toll plaza of Birshreshtha Shaheed Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir Bridge at Rehaichar in Chapainawabganj town at 6:00pm.
RAB detained a power tiller hailing from Chatrajitpur under Shibganj upazila of the district and after searching it RAB found the arms and ammunition.
Later, the arrested person was handed over to the police of sadar thana with a case.
