A man was killed in a fire that broke out at a high-rise building in the Shyamoli area of Dhaka on Thursday night.
The identity of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately. His body was recovered from the 19th floor of the 20-storey Rupayan Shelford building, according to the media cell of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD).
The fire, which started on the seventh floor of the building around 11:30pm, was brought under control around 2:00am on Friday after 13 fire engines fought the blaze.
Twenty-three people, including women and children, were rescued from the building,
The cause of the fire could not be known immediately.
